Hundreds of people flocked to Khao Kheow open zoo in Si Racha district of Chon Buri today, to catch a glimpse of “Moo Deng”, a pygmy hippo calf which has become a global sensation.

A long line of cars stretched almost three kilometres from the entrance to the zoo and, because of the huge number of people wanting to get a glimpse Moo Deng, zoo officials decided to let people visit the animal in groups for about five minutes each, in an attempt to ensure that no one missed the opportunity to see the hippo.
The zoo is expecting large crowds throughout this long weekend.
On Sunday, visitors who are over 60 and children under 12, or less than 135cm in height, will not be charged entrance fees between 8am and 5pm.
